Water: Take 2 (the wire substructure collapse)

Aliens One and Two examine the calamitous collapse of the wire substructure, soon to underpin Robin's shower's water. The tangle of shining steel should in fact be a forest of parallel strands. Hmmm ...

Alien Two took a moment to recenter herself while the rest of us considered the options ...

Fortunately the Trouble and Strife was here to help! Watch Alien One's recording of the resurrection.

Overcome by the success of the transfer and her rabbit ear shenanigans, the Trouble and Strife gave me an impromptu hug, which Alien One assiduously documented.

Rest assured, dear reader, we are back to work and the shower water will very soon be more recognizable as exactly that!

"Mobile Bird in Aluminum" The Essence of The Squirrel King

Dear Reader,

While I was busily adding hundreds of wire strands to the super-structure for Robin's shower's water, Alien One was busy on a shower of her own! Replete with an aluminum foil model of Robin herself, and pipe-cleaner piping technology, I'm told it was inspired by a Degas dancer and my own more humble home-spun efforts.

Twenty minutes later, the result of further shower-construction neglect on my part was another fantastic foil fantasy.

In case you're having trouble making the bird out, click on the video below for a fuller exposition of this model - actually you should click on the video below regardless, because Alien One's enthusiasm for life is contagious.

Water: Take 1

Dear Reader,

The long weekend brought with it help from multiple quarters, and so it was that the Trouble and Strife, Justus and I made a combined attack on the shower stall's water.

And there was success!

Indeed, it didn't take much water for the Trouble and Strife to take a crack at cleaning under her arms. So little, in fact, that it is perfectly understandable that you, dear reader, might not see the vision yet (that blue stripe just past the copper shower head was the only actual water we created).

Conceptually, though, it was going very well.

That lasted until yesterday morning when the first signs of trouble began (that line to the ceiling should have been a dozen separate strands).

Closer inspection only revealed the insurmountable extent of the tangled framework. In the end cutting my losses was the best solution (the only solution actually).

Fear not though, Alien Two and I made the trek to Jo Ann's and a new solution was procured. Stay tuned for water (take 2).

Weekend Rain in LA LA Land

With the advent of rain, the Aliens took the opportunity to experiment with an umbrella. The question: how to accommodate two bodies under one roof?

In true Squirrel King fashion, various solutions were trialed ...

And then the sun returned!

Good things like umbrellas are hard to contain though ...

Cause for celebration

Yesterday witnessed another idiosyncratically Squirrel King application of pom-poms: use in the painting of blue wattle on the floor of Robin's shower stall!

I kind of wish I could somehow assume this shower stall into my real life ...

I wonder if I could cover it in sealant.

Alien One was so excited by the final product, she did a lotus position handstand.

Hope you like it as much as we do :)

PS For those worried about fidelity of wattle rendition, know that the bathroom sink will feature yellow flowers :)

PPS Water is still on it's way.

The Foonata

Great love and care brought to us today, a wonderful distraction from another world.

Alien One's very own musical instrument: the Foonata.

Constructed from clothes pegs, rubber bands, masking tape and pipe-cleaners, it's a very special piece of equipment, which "does not make a loud noise, but brings much happiness".

Gotta love those Aliens!!

In The Beginning ...

Vivian arrived with her box of goodies.

She worked her magic.

Alien Two inspected the work.

And before we knew it the Squirrel Queen had created The Squirrel King.

Hope you like the title card.

Food glorious food!

While Alien Two and the Trouble and Strife examined the first fabulous loaves of love ...

Alien One was already busy at work on a topping; orange marmalade in this instance.

Breakfast was truly transformed. ... And then the Trouble and Strife found the cinnamon swirl recipe!

Oh la la!

So, with batteries recharged the Aliens went back to work.

The question I leave you with: why are the Aliens painting packing peanuts?

Our Daily Bread

Life, as they say, is what happens while you're busy making other plans ... and then in some instances life takes over!

Friday afternoon was devoted to fun in the sun with liquid watercolors and loving inscriptions, as we wrapped a little inspiration to augment the Trouble and Strife's latest whim; a couple of books on the secrets of home-baked bread.

Joy in the receiving was only matched by joy in the giving.

Rest assured though, that while living The Squirrel King is all about celebrating the distractions, production design continues all the while.
